As if spam, viruses, and worms aren't bad enough. Adware and spyware are here to zap the remaining life out of your productivity and privacy. Cookies are harmless in comparison!

Adware is software that displays advertisements on your computer. These are ads that inexplicably pop up on your display screen, even if you're not browsing the Internet. Some companies provide "free" software in exchange for advertising on your display. It's how they make their money.

Spyware is software that sends your personal information to a third party without your permission or knowledge. This can include information about Web sites you visit or something more sensitive like your user name and password. Unscrupulous companies often use this data to send you unsolicited targeted advertisements.

With all the new Security threats coming in from the Web, surfing itself has become a chore !!

Microsoft has made available a version of their Anti-Spyware to answer combat the ridiculous and malicious attacks from Hackers called Windows Defender. Spyware Writers and Virus Writers riding on the coat-tails of these new and ever popular ways of destroying your ability to use your computer for home or business use.  This program in conjunction with a good Antivirus program will help minimize the amount of destruction to your software and the simple task of surfing the web without fear of losing data, personal and business information, viruses, etc..  Please keep in mind however, that NO Program will completely stop the influx of Spyware and/or Viruses.  You, the consumer, must take an active part in protecting your computer by Updating your Antivirus (which keeps it at its greatest level of protection), Anti-Spyware Protection (Microsoft Windows Defender or Adaware 2007), and avoiding malicious websites.  By sticking to this regimen you will help insure a better computing experience on and off the Internet.  Microsoft Windows Defender and Adaware 2007 can be found under Patches & Updates & Advised Downloads.
